D'Afrik is a nice, little family run restaurant. We popped in during the day - food was really good, generous portions and service was really good. The restaurant has some character and there's a bar downstairs that we didn't use. Ethiopian food is always a great option for vegans, and the large platter we had didn't disappoint. Great stuff, we'd come again next time we're nearby.

Celebrated my birthday at D'Afrik with six other people including my sister who is vegetarian and gluten-free. The food is amazing and with generous portions given the price, as we all had a lot of injera. The waitress helped advise a lamb wat which had sauce and I also tried the lentil wat and the atakilt made with carrots and cabbage. I recommend this restaurant though the waiting time is slow, so plan your whole evening as we arrived around 7pm and left around 10pm.

D’afrik Restaurant in Shepherd’s Bush, London, stands out as a warm, family-run gem offering authentic Ethiopian cuisine that delights both locals and visitors alike. Nestled on Goldhawk Road, this unpretentious eatery welcomes you with genuine hospitality and a cozy atmosphere that grows on you the longer you stay.

The real highlight here is the food. D’afrik’s generous portions and masterful seasoning bring Ethiopian staples like injera, lentil wat, and lamb wat vibrantly to life. The teff injera, a fermented flatbread, serves as both plate and utensil, creating a tactile dining experience that connects you directly to the culture. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or a meat lover, the diverse menu accommodates all with expertly crafted dishes bursting with rich, earthy flavors and fresh, vibrant greens.

What impressed me most was the Beyenetu platter, a visually stunning and perfectly balanced assortment of dishes that arrived exactly as pictured—a rare authentic encounter in London’s Ethiopian scene. The freshness of the ingredients and the depth of seasoning speak to the kitchen’s care and skill. Despite its plain exterior, the restaurant offers a genuine taste adventure, complemented by attentive and friendly service that makes you feel cared for from the moment you step inside.

While the pace of service can be leisurely—best to set aside a relaxed evening—this only adds to the communal, unhurried spirit characteristic of Ethiopian dining. The downstairs bar adds an extra touch of character, hinting at good times beyond the meal. Reasonably priced and rich with cultural flavor, D’afrik is a must-visit for anyone eager to explore Ethiopian cuisine in a welcoming, family-driven setting. Expect to leave satisfied, perhaps a little messy, but deeply content and eager to return.
